Covid-19 Pandemic

Avoid the spread of the virus

The Trustees, Staff and Volunteers at the St Michael's Centre will do their utmost to keep you safe during your visit by complying with current Welsh Government legislation and NHS guidelines. A risk assessment has been carried out in re-opening the Centre and the actions taken to help keep you safe can be viewed here.

What we ask of you.............
• All activities must be consistent with the current Welsh Government and Public Health Wales legislation and guidelines related to Covid-19 at the date of the event for which the booking is required (see below)
For each visit to the Centre hirers should keep a record of all of their clients/visitors contact details for at least 3 weeks to enable tracking and tracing in the event of a confirmed case of Covid-19
• An NHS Tract and Trace QR code is displayed at the entrance to the Centre for digital scanning; this does not replace the need to provide visitor contact details as above.
• Any client showing signs or symptoms of Covid-19 should stay at home
• A face covering should be worn at all times when moving around in the Centre (except during exercise classes or children under 11 years and those persons who have exemption due to health reasons)
• Hand washing/sanitising regimes should be strictly observed.
• All Welsh Government current social distancing and hygiene guidelines should be observed
• Numbers may be restricted in the main hall and the training room, please contact the centre for more information
• Room layout should be considered to maintain social distancing

What activities can take place in a Community Centre?
  • Any activity can legally be undertaken as long as it is organised by a club or recognised body within the legal limits on numbers attending, and does not include the sale or consumption of alcohol.
  • However, whilst the regulations allow for a wider range of activities than before the firebreak we would urge organisers to consider whether the activity needs to take place indoors, particularly where it has been successfully delivered either virtually or outdoors over the last few months.
  • The organisers will be responsible for taking all reasonable measures to minimise risk of exposure to coronavirus at the premises or the spread of coronavirus by those who have been at the premises.
  • Our advice remains that activities involving singing, chanting or shouting should be avoided due to the additional risk of infection, even where physical distancing or face coverings are used. There are also some musical instruments such as wind instruments which should not be played indoors. The person responsible for the activity must take all reasonable measures to minmise the risk of exposure to coronavirus.
